Why Glyphosate-Free Soil Is the Only Soil Worth Keeping Bees On — And What It Means for Brisbane Raw Honey

Glyphosate and the Bee Gut Microbiome: What the Research Shows

A landmark study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences demonstrated that glyphosate — the world's most widely used herbicide — directly disrupts the gut microbiome of honeybees by inhibiting the shikimate pathway in beneficial gut bacteria. The result: immune-compromised bees, increased susceptibility to pathogens like Serratia marcescens, and colony collapse. This isn't fringe science. It's peer-reviewed and deeply alarming for anyone who cares about where their honey comes from.

At RawMilkAUS, our beehives are placed exclusively on our certified regenerative pastures — land that is 100% glyphosate-free, with no pesticides or herbicides of any kind used across our entire property. Our bees forage on pastures grazed by our completely unvaccinated, 100% grass-fed and finished cattle, where soil biology is actively restored through holistic grazing rotations rather than chemical intervention.

What "Raw Unfiltered" Actually Means — and Why It Matters

The term "raw honey" is widely misused. Truly raw, unfiltered honey retains its full complement of pollen, propolis microparticles, wild enzymes (including diastase, invertase, and glucose oxidase), and naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide. The moment honey is heated above 40°C or passed through fine filtration, these compounds are degraded or removed entirely.

Our glyphosate-free raw unfiltered honey is harvested and jarred on the same day — never warehoused, never re-heated, never blended with imported product. Each batch is tested and traceable to a specific hive location on our regenerative property. For pet owners across Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Queensland looking for the most biologically intact honey available, this is it.

Soil Health Is the Foundation of Honey Quality

Bees are hyper-local foragers. Within a 3km radius of the hive, they collect nectar and pollen from whatever plants are present — which means soil chemistry directly determines honey chemistry. On conventionally farmed land, bees are exposed to systemic herbicide and pesticide residues through plant vascular systems. The nectar itself carries the contamination.

Our regenerative approach rebuilds soil biology using deep-rooted perennial grasses, diverse flowering species, and the natural fertility cycle of our unvaccinated cattle herd. Zero microplastics enter our soil through careful water and input management. The result is a genuinely diverse, chemical-free forage environment — and honey that reflects the full ecological richness of living soil.

The Full Regenerative Ecosystem: Beyond Just Honey

Our bees don't exist in isolation. They share the same certified regenerative land as our 100% grass-fed and finished cattle — the same herd that produces our raw milk, raw butter, and raw cream (strictly for pet and cosmetic use respectively). The same pastures also support our organic pasture-raised unvaccinated eggs, laid daily by hens that have never received vaccines or pharmaceutical inputs and roam freely on glyphosate-free ground. Every product from RawMilkAUS comes from the same interconnected, chemical-free ecosystem.

The regenerative principles that make our honey exceptional apply equally to our beef. Our 100% grass-fed and finished steaks, liver, heart, kidneys, and bone marrow come from the same completely unvaccinated herd raised on these glyphosate-free pastures. For pet owners feeding a raw diet, this is species-appropriate nutrition from animals raised without a single pharmaceutical intervention — strictly for pet use only and not for human consumption.
